Then we changed our messaging to say we recommend the app, but could issue a keypad code if the guest is not an "app person". We started asking if they wanted a keypad code or to download the app and most asked for a code. I'd estimate 20-30 guests have now used our smart lock successfully. We wanted to confirm how well it was working before automating things, so we've been manually issuing keypad codes or sending invitations to use the app (based on guest preference). We installed an August Smart Lock with a keypad several months ago and, overall, have really liked it. Hosts want this automated 100% and currently it does not meet their needs. I could sell so many more of these locks to hosts if you made them work this way. We really REALLLY need these changes implemented. You could also dynamically add it into the check in instructions on Airbnb so it shows up in the itinerary? Maybe this needs you and airbnb to work together, but this really needs to NOT be sent as a separate email. that way when they're trying to check in, they can scroll through the messages for their reservation. We REALLY need August to send the code to the guest using AirBnB messaging for that guests reservation. A guest has a hard time going back and finding this email. This is because August sends the code as a SEPARATE email to the guest. Guests should only have to remember ONE code for their stay, not different codes for different locks.įinally I have found that many guests show up and do not know what their code is. No guest should have access to all 3 locks. Similarly if a guest is staying in a room in the main house, they should receive ONE code that works on the gate and the door tot he main house. If a guest is staying in the inlaw unit, they should receive ONE code that works on the gate and also the door to the inlaw unit. One lock on a door to the main house and another lock to an inlaw unit. ![]() The other two are in the foyer once inside the gate. For example, I installed 3 locks for a host. Similarly if they forget something and have to go back inside shortly after checkout time, they are then locked out and have to contact the host.īut what we REALLY need is the ability to group locks into a single airbnb listing. Many hosts would like to have the code work an hour prior to check in so that if they show up a little early, they can get in. Currently they're set to check in time and the check out time. What we need is the ability to add a buffer to the activation time and the deactivation time.
